The Municipality of North Cowichan has awarded a contract for forestry public engagement to Vancouver based company, Lees and Associates.
This is an extract from the North Cowichan Press Release:
Mayor, Al Siebring, noted that “In winter 2018, Council began hearing from citizens interested in the Municipality's activities within the reserve. As a result of this interest, Council asked for a review of North Cowichan's forestry operations and curtailed harvesting until such time as an interim and long-term forestry management plan could be implemented.”
The North Cowichan 3rd Quarter Financial Statements do not support the "curtailed harvesting" statement. 2019 is shaping up to be a near-record year for logging profits and we have no indication yet of the logging plans for 2020.
